The Flyer won't read VITC time code of the video signal but through the RS-422
to RS-232 serial connection between the Amiga and the VTR.

I agree with that. The Flyer has to have EDL ouptut and batch redigitizing to
allow drive space savings when working on long or multiple projects. As for
the RS-422 control, apparently the Flyer will use a serial connection between
the Amiga and the VTR to read time code so controlling the VTR should be very
easy to do with a software update.
